Housing Assistance

Housing assistance is often needed after the refugees rent is no longer paid by the resettlement agency. The following resources are available. Section 8 subsidized housing should be applied for immediately upon resettlement of the refugee to allow placement on the 2-4 year waiting list.

Process applications for subsidized housing  – Section 8 – for families, disabled, and elderly. Typically a 2-4 year waiting list. City of Boise | Rental Housing owns and operates an assortment of affordable rental properties for Extremely Low–, Very Low– and Low–Income individuals. Presently, more than 20% of these tenants were homeless upon entry.

Upon receipt of a completed Rental Housing Application, City of Boise | Rental Housing records the date and time the application is received. Units are filled by date and time of application. Because of the high demand of affordable housing, and comparatively low supply, it is not rare to be on a waiting list for several years.

Emergency rent assistance. Call for a screening for emergency rental assistance. Must have paid rent for 3 consecutive months on time, must have eviction notice, must participate in case management, have proof of income and be an Ada County resident.
