Housing Assistance

Housing assistance is often needed after the refugees rent is no longer paid by the resettlement agency. The following resources are available. Section 8 subsidized housing should be applied for immediately upon resettlement of the refugee to allow placement on the 2-4 year waiting list.

Process applications for subsidized housing  – Section 8 – for families, disabled, and elderly. Typically a 2-4 year waiting list. Public Housing (project based housing) for the elderly and disabled is typically a 9-12 month waiting list. For available rental units from various landlords in the community please visit

Located across from BSU. Have low income studios, 1 & 2 bedroom units and a few larger units. A majority of the units are studios, which are remodeled motel rooms. Rent includes all utilities. $15 application fee. Please call for available & length of the waiting list.

Emergency Rent Assistance

Emergency rent assistance. Call for a screening for emergency rental assistance. Must have paid rent for 3 consecutive months on time, must have eviction notice, must participate in case management, have proof of income and be an Ada County resident.
